Colour Mill oil blends allow the colour to spread into any part of a high fat medium, including sugar, eggs and butter. This is because all water based materials have been removed and replaced with baking and cake friendly oils; these oils mix much better than water based gels (which we know repel water from the oils in your baked goods).
Unlike traditional gel colours, Colour Mill Oil Blend loves the fats and oils found in your baked goods and uses them to disperse the special colour formula. The result is stunningly bright, rich and consistent shades that won't fade. It works particularly well in buttercream, Swiss meringue, chocolate, cake batter, ganache and sugarpaste. It also works in flower pastes, gumpastes, modelling pastes, marzipan, cake mixes, pastries, icing, isomalt, piping gel, cake doily mixes and more.
Not only will your cakes look stunning, but with Colour Mill you get more colour for your money. The high concentration means you use much less than you normally would for even brighter and more colourful results. You only need a tiny drop at a time to achieve the shade you want - we recommend using the end of a cocktail stick.
Using more drops will create a more intense color, using less will create softer shades. Build up the color slowly as you mix your dough to achieve the desired shade.
The bottle comes with a dispensing cap for greater accuracy. Colour Mill can be diluted with alcohol to create an edible colour. Please note that the colours may take longer to dry due to the oil contained.
